Planning for Prevention Training in March

POLICY DEVELOPMENT: Working with Planners and the Public


This comprehensive all day (FREE) training will promote collaboration with public officials, local and regional planning organizations and community stakeholders. It is offered in collaboration and with Vermont's Regional Planning Commissions.

Goal:

Expand knowledge and skills for increasing collaboration in policy planning and development. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

- Describe components of effective policy and fidelity steps from policy development to implementation
- Understand policy language and explore techniques for sharing and communicating about policy with
diverse audiences
- Share Municipal level examples from Vermont for practical application
- Describe challenges and barriers to policy implementation
- Participate in beginner and advanced level workshop sessions and in facilitated regional action planning
- You are encouraged to bring sample policies, current work plans and any challenges in implementing policy to be shared in small group activities.

Who should attend?

The training is designed for:
Vermont Department of Health Regional Prevention Partnership (RRP) grantees and sub-grantees
VDH Staff
Community prevention coalition
Community stakeholders
Regional planning commissions
Healthy community design grantees.
And is open to all town planners

Participants are encouraged to invite a community partner who is working on policy at the local level and/or a person from the regional planning commission.

This training is offered at no charge and is paid for through a grant from the Vermont Department of Health, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs (ADAP).

Breakfast and registration begins at 8:30.
The day concludes at 4:00 pm.
