Seward Weber Lecture: The Importance of Old-Growth Forests
Old-growth forests are an important part of our natural heritage in the Northeast, and allowing old growth to return to the landscape is an essential part of our efforts to improve the ecological integrity of the region.
At this year’s Seward Weber Lecture, Tom Wessels, faculty emeritus at Antioch University New England and author of a number of books, including Reading the Forested Landscape, will discuss the importance of old-growth forests as a functional part of our regional landscape—one that is presently under-represented.
The Annual Seward Weber lecture series is co-sponsored by the Vermont Natural Resources Council, Audubon Vermont, and the Vermont Land Trust in memory of Seward Weber, who played an influential role in the history and accomplishments of each of these conservation organizations.
